The World Poker Tour is a series of poker tournaments held all over the world. Each tournament's final table is shown on a TV show. Steven Lipscomb, an attorney and TV producer, started it in the United States. He was the CEO of WPT Enterprises, the company that ran the World Poker Tour until November 2009. In 2008, the WPT began giving bracelets to the winners of its events. Players who won a title before the WPT Bracelet came out were given one after the fact. In November 2009, PartyGaming announced that it had paid WPTE $12,300,000 to buy the World Poker Tour.
