Maverick

Roy Huggins produced the Western television series Maverick, which has humorous aspects. Actor James Garner plays Bret Maverick, an expert card player, in the ABC series that aired from September 22, 1957 through July 8, 1962. To help him out, Jack Kelly was cast as his brother Bart eight episodes into the show's first season; they continued to work together on a weekly basis, occasionally teaming up for episodes with both brothers on screen at the same time. One of Texas' best-known and most dangerous poker players was known as "The Maverick," and he crisscrossed the United States in the Old West and on Mississippi riverboats in the 1800s. They would frequently be confronted with a choice between a money bonanza and a moral quandary. Since both Mavericks were deeply ethical, their consciences often took precedence over their finances. Roger Moore was cast as Beau Maverick, the Mavericks' cousin, after Garner departed the show due to a legal disagreement. Brent Maverick, a character played by Robert Colbert, featured in the fourth season as a third Maverick sibling. There have never been more than two of the show's main characters in the same episode, and in most cases, only one.
