Masters of Science Fiction

American television anthology series Masters of Science Fiction was created by the same team as Masters of Horror. A four-episode season of the show premiered on ABC on August 4, 2007, at 10PM. It was initially slated to broadcast six parts, however two episodes were dropped from the schedule for unspecified reasons. Like Masters of Horror, the hour-long episodes of this show are each a short film adaption from a notable science fiction author. The show's title refers to this fact. For the first time, the Canadian network Space picked up the show in December 2007. It was then feasible to screen the final two episodes in North America. An all-episode Region 1 DVD of the six shows was released on August 5, 2008. Starting with "Watchbirds," "Stephen Hawking's Sci-Fi Masters" debuted on February12,2012, on the Science Channel, where they were titled as such. Scientist Stephen Hawking serves as the show's emcee from behind closed doors.
