In Living Color

In Living Color is a popular sketch comedy show that originated in the United States and aired on the Fox Network from April15, 1990 all the way through May19, 1994. The Wayans brothers, Keenen and Damon, were responsible for the creation of the program, as well as writing and starring in it. The program was produced by Ivory Way Productions in cooperation with 20th Century Fox Television. It was recorded in front of a live studio audience at stage 7 of the Fox Television Center in Hollywood, California, which is located on Sunset Boulevard. The announcement made by NBC in the 1950s and 1960s that broadcasts will be shown "in living color" served as the source of inspiration for the title of the series, which aired before color television was widely available. Additionally, it is a reference to the fact that the majority of the show's cast was black, in contrast to the casts of other sketch comedy shows like Saturday Night Live, which are often composed of predominantly white individuals. Other members of the Wayans family, including Kim, Shawn, and Marlon, had recurring parts, while Dwayne, their brother, made frequent appearances as extras. In addition, the evening featured comedic performances from actors Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx, and David Alan Grier, all of whom were relatively unknown at the time. In addition, actress Rosie Perez, judge Carrie Ann Inaba, who also serves as a choreographer, and dancer Jennifer Lopez were all part of the show's dance ensemble known as The Fly Girls. In1990, the series was honored with the Emmy for Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Series.
