Gilligan's Island

Gilligan's Island is an American sitcom that was made by United Artists Television and created and produced by Sherwood Schwartz. Bob Denver, Alan Hale, Jr., Jim Backus, Natalie Schafer, Tina Louise, Russell Johnson, and Dawn Wells were all on the situation comedy show. From September 26, 1964, until September 4, 1967, it ran for three seasons on the CBS network. At first, Philip Morris & Company and Procter & Gamble paid for the show, which told the funny stories of seven shipwrecked people trying to stay alive on an island. Most episodes are about the conflicts between the different castaways and their failed attempts to get away from their situation. Gilligan's Island had 98 episodes in total. The first season had 36 episodes that were all shot in black and white. These episodes were later changed to color so that they could be shown in more places. The second and third seasons of the show, as well as the three TV movie sequels, were all shot in color. The show did well when it was first on, and it became even more popular when it went into syndication. This was especially true in the 1970s and 1980s, when many markets showed it in the late afternoon after school. Gilligan, the show's main character, is now a well-known symbol of American culture.
