Auf Wiedersehen, Pet

The British comedy-drama series Auf Wiedersehen, Pet is about seven British construction workers who are looking for work outside of the United Kingdom and decide to leave. They make their home and their living on a construction site in Düsseldorf, Germany, for the first season. They work for a shady businessman in the second season, first on a mansion in the English countryside and then on his swimming pool at his home in Spain. Both locations are in Spain. They get back together for an important mission on the Middlesbrough transporter bridge, which ultimately leads to them working in Arizona. The third season takes place fifteen years after the events of the second series. In the fourth season, they are assigned to serve at the British embassy in Havana, which is located in Cuba. Tim Healy, Kevin Whately, Jimmy Nail, Gary Holton, Christopher Fairbank, Pat Roach, and Timothy Spall were the actors who gave outstanding performances in the lead parts. Franc Roddam was the one who came up with the concept for Auf Wiedersehen, Pet after Mick Connell pitched the idea to him. Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, who also wrote The Likely Lads, Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads?, and Porridge, contributed a significant amount of the writing for this work. Stan Hey was also responsible for the writing of some of the episodes. The first two series of the show were co-produced by Witzend Productions, which is owned by Clement and LaFrenais, and Central Television. The shows were aired on ITV in 1983–1984 and 1986 respectively. The programme saw a successful resurrection that resulted in the broadcast of two series and a Christmas special on BBC One between the years 2002 and 2004. The documentary series Drama Connections on the BBC devoted its inaugural episode to the show as its topic of investigation.
