Arena

Arena was a television show on G4 and G4techTV that focused on competitive video gaming and aired from 2002 through 2004. The program took the shape of a LAN party, in which different teams competed against one another in the popular multiplayer video games of the time period. A ongoing tournament structure was used for a good deal of the episodes of this series. Unreal Tournament 2004 and Call of Duty are two examples of video games that have episodes that overlap with one another. The teams are also given the opportunity to talk about themselves and shed some light on the background of their team name. Team ZoMBiE was crowned the Ultimate Arena Champions after they were victorious at the Tournament of Champions in 2004. Team Kaizen became the Ultimate Arena Champions in 2005 after they triumphed in the Tournament of Champions competition. Wil Wheaton and Travis Oates were the initial hosts of the show, but both of them resigned because of disagreements with the program's producer, Jim Downs. Wheaton made many of these disagreements public in a post that he published on Slashdot.com. They were succeeded by Lee Reherman and Michael Louden in their roles, respectively. Reherman and Kevin Pereira were the hosts for the conclusion of the show. Studio 2 served as the location for the production of the first two seasons. Filming relocated to studio3, which was G4's old headquarters' largest studio, in the year2004, for the third and last season of the shows. After it was made known that the show would be canceled as a direct result of the TechTV buyout, the producers of the series decided to save a few episodes for later use. However, in July of 2004, they decided to scrap the set in order to make room for three shows that had previously been produced by TechTV: X-Play, The Screen Savers, and Unscrewed with Martin Sargent.
