The Original Kings of Comedy accomplishes the almost impossible challenge of capturing the rollicking and sly comedy routines of stand-up and sitcom veterans Steve Harvey, D.L. Hughley, Cedric the Entertainer, and Bernie Mac, as well as the pleasure of seeing a live show. Spike Lee and his crew set up a slew of cameras in a crowded stadium and onstage (as well as backstage, where they follow the comedians) to capture the show's vivid immediacy, which is as much about the audience as it is about the jokes.
