A vagabond (Hal Carter) storms into town on the morning of a small town Labor Day picnic to visit an old fraternity mate (Alan Benson), who also happens to be the son of the town's wealthiest man. Hal is an egocentric braggart with an abundance of promise but little success. He is introduced to Madge Owens, the town's beauty queen and Alan Benson's girlfriend.
