Hurry Sundown

Following World War II, a northern cannery conglomerate negotiates the acquisition of a large tract of uncultivated Georgia farmland. Julie Ann Warren owns the majority of the land, which has already been optioned by her shady, draft evading husband, Henry. Additionally, the combine must acquire two smaller plots - one owned by Henry's cousin Rad McDowell, a battle veteran with a wife and family, and the other by Reeve Scott, a young black man whose mother was Julie's childhood Mammy. However, Rad and Reeve are not interested in selling, and together they form an unprecedented black-white partnership to enhance their land. Despite being enraged by the turn of events, Henry remains steadfast in his determination to complete the large land transaction. And after Reeve's mother Rose dies, Henry convinces his wife to accuse Reeve with illegal property ownership, confident that the bigoted Judge Purcell will rule against a Negro.
