Betrayed

During World War II, millions of Jews from all over Europe were murdered in concentration camps run by the Germans. These Jews came from a variety of different countries. Jews in Norway have a sense of security and protection while German troops invade their country, which gives them peace of mind. Anti-Semitism, however, is a phenomenon that is not limited by national boundaries, and as the conflict in Europe continues to worsen, the circumstances are becoming much more precarious. Suddenly, their radios are taken away from them, their passports are stamped with a huge J, and one day, all of the males men over the age of 15 are arrested and brought to prison camps. Many of the women who were left behind are unable to flee because they are too terrified, and they are currently holding out hope that their husbands and sons will soon return home. On November 26, 1942, during the middle of the night, hundreds of Jews are rounded up by the police and carried to the dock in Oslo. This event takes place in Norway. Men, women, and children of all ages, as well as the sick and elderly, are coerced onto the waiting German cargo ship "SS DONAU," where they are afraid and unsure of what will happen to them. There are 532 Jewish people from Norway on board the ship when it sets sail: 302 men, 188 women, and 42 children. The ultimate station is Auschwitz.
